Kestrels, or sparrow hawks as they are sometimes called are a small colourful hawk often seen perched on telephone/hydro wires looking for prey in the grasses below.
Almost wiped out by DDT, they have made a comeback that is heart warming to see.
The copper disc has grasses and found objects embedded in it representative of the kestrel's word of grasslands.
