Joseph's Tree

Joseph's Tree
Joseph, our favorite park ranger, in our favorite SC State Park spun some amazing tales of history both natural and human. To him the magnolia was a symbol of friendship, beauty and generosity prevailing over the darkness of war, hate and evil deeds. This young tree overcame adversity, growing in a swampy salt marsh, and surviving several hurricanes that devastated the island in it's short life.
It is tenacity personified, the perfect symbol of all that is good in human nature.

Still Standing

Still Standing

The Live Oaks of the South Eastern US fascinate me and whisper to my muse paint me - paint me!
 and so I do.
This tree in particular is an old friend, she stretches her arms over our favorite campsite at Edisto SP, SC. We're treated to a constant parade of racoons, opossums and other critters that live in her many hollows, many a time I've made supper to an avid audience!

DON'S HILL

Recorded on a hot summer day, Don's hill, was an anomaly, a steep drop into what may have once been the bed of a rushing glacial river, long gone, and now permanently erased to make way for a "better" road.

I'm fascinated by the spaces between. Little bits of wild, left behind by the plough, too rough or inconvenient for the ploughman, but loved by the wildlings.

Old trees have such a sense of calm, been here seen that, might be their mantra.
Many other cultures have believed these ancients have spirits, with all of the research into tree connectedness it's easy to believe they were right. Forest bathing is proven good for the soul,
